Terra Nova

Approximately well over a millennia ago an advanced unknown race lived on Terra Nova though details are limited. They used their vast knowledge and technology to move asteroids, purposes unknown, until someone or something sabotaged the artifact used to control the thrusters on the asteroids. This was used to crash it into the planet killing hundreds of thousands of people. Those who survived lost their ability to use technology and eventually a divergent race evolved from the chaos. This race was much more primitive and even worshiped those who came before as gods. Somehow they too caused an asteroid to hit the planet which was enough to wipe them out entirely. The Terra Novans who came from Earth clearly suffered the same fate when they discovered the ancient technology.

Terra Nova is a planet that is approximately 19 Light Years away from the Sol System. In 2069 United Earth made the decision to colonize the planet due to its proximity to Earth. By 2078 the colony ship had arrived, the crew dismantled the ship, and they constructed the first buildings of the fledgling colony. In 2083 Earth decided to send another ship to further colonize the planet, though a group led by Mark Logan opposed this. They threatened Earth then went silent.

By 2151 United Earth had sent the USS Enterprise to investigate what had happened to the colonists only to discover that the colony had largely been destroyed. The children who had originally colonized the planet were the only survivors after an asteroid struck the planet, though they believed United Earth to be responsible. The Enterprise crew were able to help relocate the descendants of the survivors.

Relations between the Novans and Humans were slowly reconciled and by 2178 they had joined the United Federation of Planets. The capital later became Logan City. In 2388 the inhabitants of Terra Nova were working on resettling the location of the original colony when they came across a ruined temple and artifact. The USS Hooke was sent to help investigate this discovery along with Emma Logan, the descendent of Mark Logan.

In 2388 the USS Hooke arrived at Terra Nova and began investigating the ancient ruins where an artifact was located. During their studies the away team inadvertently activated the relic which activated thrusters for an asteroid sending it on a collision course toward the planet where previous asteroids had hit. The crew of the Hooke were able to prevent the asteroid from striking the planet, and the away team was able to escape the ruins.
