| Personal History | James Theodore Cohen was born in 2349. He grew up, along with his sister and brother, on Earth where his father served Starfleet as a civilian and his mother worked as an oceanographer. Early in his life he knew he wanted to join Starfleet like his grandfather, his uncle, and his father. In 2366 James applied for the entrance exam and left for Starfleet Academy in 2367 with a focus in the sciences. James met Mia Reynolds while he was at Starfleet Academy, and began dating her during his junior year. Following his graduation from the academy and before his initial assignment to the USS Kennedy Mia and James would get married. During the first year of their marriage from 2371 until 2372 Mia Cohen remained on Earth. She joined James on board the USS Kennedy by 2372. When he graduated from the academy in 2371, James was assigned as one of the junior science officers aboard the Nebula-class starship USS Kennedy. After only one year of service h e was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. By 2374 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reassigned to serve as the Assistant Chief Science Officer. James saw little action during the Dominion War while the Kennedy barely saw any action serving primarily as a scout ship along the border. Prior to James being reassigned to the USS Kennedy Paige Cohen was born to James and Mia Cohen. Due to complications during the pregnancy Mia's health suffered greatly. By the time Paige had turned five years old, Mia's health conditions had greatly worsened and eventually she passed away leaving James alone to raise Paige. Paige remained on board the USS Kennedy throughout James' entire assignment there. In 2376 most of the crew from the USS Kennedy was reassigned due to the continued personnel problems throughout the fleet. He took the Chief Science Officer position on board the Galaxy-class starship USS Dale. James would be promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2378 and four years later to the rank of Commander after being selected to fill the vacant Executive Officer post. James served aboard the USS Dale for another six years before being selected to command the USS Hooke, and promoted to the rank of Captain. |
