| Personal History | Rhys and his twin sister Millie were born in 2360 in the city of London on the planet Earth. Through much of his early life Rhys was very curious about the world that surrounded him. It came as little shock when, in 2377, he applied to Starfleet Academy. He was accepted and left the following year after finishing his high school years. Rhys chose the sciences as his primary focus, specifically in micro-biology. He spent much of his time focused on classes and didn't make many friends, choosing to ignore much of that aspect during his academy days. By 2382 he had graduated from the Academy and was selected to join the crew of the USS Ares as one of the science officers on board. As a junior officer, very little of Rhys' time was spent actually doing much in the ways of scientific discovery. The Ares wasn't a science ship, rather it was more inclined for border patrols routes and preventing Romulan incursions after they had gone silent following the end of the Dominion War. After his first year on board Rhys was chosen for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. After another year on board the Ares the ship needed to replace the Assistant Chief of Sciences. Rhys was one of the first names brought up for the promotion and at first it looked like he wasn't going to be selected. Despite some of his shortfalls Rhys was ultimately chosen to fill the role. The ship still did little in the way of science and so his time aboard was just as dull. By 2388 when the opportunity for him to take a department head role on board a science ship came up he applied immediately. Rhys was soon selected to fill the role of Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Hooke. He left for the new ship later that year. |
